Nature-Based & Walk-and-Talk Therapy

Spending time with the companionship of nature

Sometimes important conversations unfold more naturally when we go outside.

For clients who feel drawn to the outdoors, sessions may take place in the peaceful spaces surrounding my office in Roswell’s historic district. We might walk along shaded streets and nearby natural paths, or simply sit together on a quiet bench, a porch swing, or a garden patio and allow the natural world to hold the conversation around us.

Being outdoors can invite a different pace—one that encourages presence, reflection, and a gentler way of turning toward what is difficult.

Outdoor therapy may be especially supportive during times of stress, grief, life transitions, burnout, or when you are feeling disconnected from yourself. Whether we walk, sit, or move between the office and outdoor spaces, the experience will be guided by your comfort, preferences, and physical needs.

Traditional in-office sessions will always remain available, and together we can choose the setting that feels most supportive for you.

Nature-based and Walk & Talk sessions are offered weather permitting and may not be appropriate for every client or clinical concern.

Consider therapy outside four walls

FAQs

  • There is no one “right” way to do therapy. Some people find that being outdoors helps them feel more relaxed, present, and able to reflect, while others prefer the comfort and privacy of a traditional office setting. You are always welcome to choose what feels best for you, and we can adjust from session to session.

  • Outdoor sessions can take many forms. We may take a gentle walk through the shaded streets and natural spaces surrounding my office, or we may choose a quiet outdoor seating area, such as a bench, porch swing, or patio space. The pace and setting of our time together will be guided by your comfort, preferences, and physical needs.

  • Your privacy is always a priority. Because outdoor sessions take place in public spaces, there is a possibility that we may encounter other people. We can discuss your comfort level ahead of time, and I will always protect your confidentiality and follow your lead if we encounter someone you know.
