The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
Carl Rogers
At Porch Light Therapy, I provide individual therapy for adults seeking meaningful emotional healing and lasting change. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in both clinical expertise and genuine human connection. While I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapies, I don't believe healing comes from techniques alone.
Research shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of growth and change. The approaches and tools I use matter, but they are most effective when offered within a relationship that feels safe, attuned, and deeply respectful of who you are. In sessions with my clients, we often discuss how it is feeling in the space between us to make sure the conditions for therapy are correct.
The mind creates the abyss, and the heart crosses it.

Every person brings a unique history, nervous system, personality, and set of challenges into therapy. Because of this, I do not follow a rigid formula or rely on a single therapeutic model.
Instead, I integrate several evidence-based approaches and tailor them to your needs, goals, and way of experiencing the world.
Together, we'll explore not only what is happening in your life, but how your mind, body, emotions, relationships, and past experiences may be shaping your present reality.
My goal is not simply to help you manage symptoms. It is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, build greater emotional flexibility, strengthen your relationships, and create a life that feels more aligned with your values.
How we will work together
Therapy is not about simply managing symptoms or finding quick solutions. It is a space to better understand yourself, explore the patterns that shape your life, and gently practice new ways of relating to yourself and others. I see this as three interconnecting areas:
Understanding Your Story
Greater awareness creates greater choice. Together, we'll explore the patterns, experiences, and nervous system responses that shape how you think, feel, relate, and move through the world.
Healing Old Wounds
Many of the ways we protect ourselves today began as adaptations to earlier experiences. Healing often starts by understanding these patterns with compassion rather than criticism.
Creating Meaningful Change
Insight is important, but healing also involves practicing new behaviors and building health habits to help you relate and respond to life's challenges.
For me, therapy is both an art and a science. I'm continually refining my approach. Truthfully, I'm a bit of a therapy geek. I love understanding how people heal and why certain approaches create change.
The approaches we will work with in session include:
Person-Centered Therapy — you experience a therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy, authenticity, and deep respect for your unique experience.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — you learn to respond more flexibly to difficult thoughts and emotions while moving toward what matters most.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — you attain practical skills for managing emotions, tolerating stress, and improving relationships.
Mindfulness & Positive Psychology — you cultivate awareness, gratitude, resilience, forgiveness, and other practices that support emotional well-being and personal growth.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — you identify patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to distress and developing more helpful ways of responding.
Interpersonal Neurobiology — less a therapy, a more a framework, your clinician utilizes insights from neuroscience, attachment, and nervous system functioning to foster co-regulation in session.
Inner Child Work — You gently explore and begin caring for younger parts of yourself that may still carry pain, unmet needs, or old beliefs.
Compassion-Focused Therapy — You develop a kinder, more supportive relationship with yourself and reducing the impact of shame and self-criticism.
Every Part of Your Story Is Welcome
I believe healing happens when people feel seen and appreciated for who they are. I focus on creating an environment where you can show up authentically and be met with curiosity and total acceptance.
I am committed to providing identity-affirming and culturally responsive therapy for people of all backgrounds, including all ages and stages of adult life, gender identities, religious backgrounds, BIPOC individuals, LGBTQIA+ communities, people living with disabilities and more.
You don’t have to make sense of it all by yourself.
If you're ready to feel more grounded, more connected, and more you, I’d love to work with you.

I recommend that we start out meeting weekly for the first couple of months to build momentum on working on your goals. Frequency can vary based on your needs, goals, and what feels most supportive. I work with some clients biweekly, 1x month, even quarterly. We’ll figure that out together as we go.

I’m not in-network with insurance providers. However, I can provide a superbill (a receipt you submit) if you’d like to use your out-of-network benefits. I’m happy to walk you through how that process works.
